The GMC Acadia has been an ever-changing SUV occupying the midsize spot in the lineup. For 2024, this SUV has some impressive upgrades.

For years, the GMC Acadia was nearly as large as the Yukon, making it confusing to understand which SUV was the better choice. The Acadia nearly reached full-size SUV status until the previous generation shrunk into the midsize class. Since then, this GMC SUV has been one of the best options in its class, bringing rugged looks, impressive features, and plenty of great qualities for the drive.

What are the new Acadia colors?

The new colors offered for this midsize GMC SUV are Crystal Metallic, Deep Bronze Metallic, and Downpour Metallic. Unfortunately, the three colors haven’t been shown off in any photos yet, with only a few of the Acadia wearing Downpour Metallic, which is a blue hue that could remind you of the color of the clouds on a rainy day.

Adding these three colors didn’t expand the color options for Acadia shoppers. While these three new colors enter the palette, three exit. The three deleted colors are Hunter Metallic, Light Stone Metallic, and Ultra Blue Metallic. These three colors were each offered in the three previous model years, with the Ultra Blue Metallic only lasting for one year.

This GMC SUV is bigger than last year

The new 2024 GMC Acadia rides in a wheelbase that’s 8.4 inches longer than the 2024 model. This SUV has grown by 10.6 inches overall, which means it might be returning to its original form as an SUV that slots between the midsize and full-size classes. These larger exterior dimensions give the Acadia up to 80 percent more cargo room behind the third row, making it easy to take more stuff with you for road trips or adventures.

The seating capacity is seven or eight, depending upon the configuration chosen, making this a good SUV for a large family to enjoy the drive together.

Cool tech in the Acadia

The Acadia’s dashboard is dominated by an 11-inch diagonal driver information center, which provides the gauges and readings you’re looking for on a digital display. This screen is dwarfed by the large 15-inch diagonal information screen in the center of the dashboard. This might be a control center with all of its features and menus that ensure you and your family have an excellent ride together.

For those looking for an impressive drive in the Acadia, the GM Super Cruise system is offered as an optional feature you can use to experience a hands-free drive on most highways.

A small engine with plenty of heart

The current automotive landscape proves that more power can be produced by smaller engines when required. The GMC Acadia uses a powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque during any drive. This new engine is more powerful than both of the previous engines, making this one of the most powerful versions of the Acadia since it went smaller.

What does the AT4 trim bring?

As expected of any GMC vehicle, the Denali trim will represent the top trim offered for this impressive SUV. With a new generation and new powertrain, we’ve wondered if the AT4 trim will continue. Thankfully, we know it will. The AT4 trim comes with a standard AWD setup and uses the previous AT4-specific dual-clutch rear differential. The suspension is tuned for off-road driving, making it easy to tackle trails in this SUV.

The GMC Acadia AT4 sits one inch taller than the regular model and has a wider track, riding on a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. This off-road Acadia also features a set of red tow hooks and skid plates at the front, giving owners more off-road capability and equipment to enjoy the drive.

A bit about the Denali trim

The top Acadia trim continues to be the Denali model. This version gives you a set of 22-inch machined aluminum wheels, a power one-touch folding second row, and a power-folding third row of seats. You’ll also find an impressive Bose 15-speaker sound system and active noise-canceling tech in the Denali trim.

Which version of the new 2024 GMC Acadia is right for you? This SUV returns to form with a larger build, more substantial equipment, and a more powerful engine. Could this new GMC SUV be the right choice for you to experience the benefits of a rugged, premium-grade SUV? Take a test drive and find out.
