There’s been a rumor floating around that the GMC Acadia will increase in size is making gaining tons of attention. Based on a recent announcement from General Motors, this speculation has been confirmed. When the third generation hits the market, it will join the full-size crossover class.
Having a larger Acadia isn’t necessarily new, though. The first-generation GMC Acadia came as a full-size, three-row crossover before being moved to a tow-row vehicle for the second-gen models. We’re expecting to see this larger Acadia during the 2024 calendar year as a 24 or 25 model.
The exact specifications and measurements haven’t been released, but you can be sure that this new three-row SUV will tower over older models.

What Will Be Under the Hood?
All expectations lead to the GMC Acadia coming with a couple of engine options. The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine is a great place to start. You’ll also see a 3.6-liter V6 option. Both of these engines will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
There are some rumors that GMC might scrap the base-level engine for a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. That’s the same engine that comes with GMC’s Canyon pickup truck.
It’s Time to Super Cruise
GMC announced that the Acadia would come with the option to add GM’s Super Cruise. This autonomous driving system uses a suite of cameras and radar in conjunction with driver-assistance tech (lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, etc.) to give drivers a hands-free approach to the road.
Super Cruise is meant to be used on pre-mapped highways across the country. It also comes with sensors to ensure that the driver still pays attention while moving. Previously, this kind of tech was only available for the fanciest vehicles. The new GMC Acadia deservedly gets to join that group.
Activating Super Cruise will be a breeze, thanks to the controls located on the steering wheel. You’ll find some other useful controls on the steering wheel as well, making this a super convenient SUV across the board.
How Much Will It Cost?
While the release of the new three-row Acadia is still a while away, there is some room to guess how it will be priced. Based on current Acadia prices with some adjustments, you can expect the base-level Acadia to cost around $38,195. The Denali trim should come in at $51,995.
Some experts expect to see a bigger jump in price due to this SUV’s greater size. The GMC Yukon, for example, ranges from $59,295 to $99,150. No one expects the Acadia to see those kinds of price hikes, but it’s hard to say until the next Acadia is official.
