Ford is reinforcing its commitment to the Houston area with the Texas is Family event that will help these communities.

Unless you’re living in or have family in the Houston area, you might have stopped thinking about the effects Hurricane Harvey had on the area. While we watched with awe as the storm flooded much of the Houston area, once recovery began and many homes and residents were back on their feet it seems we forgot that Houston was devastated by this hurricane.

Ford is Making Donations to Nonprofits in Houston

The Texas is Family event is put together to bring the community together and continue the support needed by those who are still feeling the effects of this storm even now, nine months later. In support of this program, Ford is working together with the nonprofits and food banks to bring in donations and supplies that are needed for those who are still unable to get back on their feet. In addition to the supplies gathered and the food that’s brought in, Ford is donating 38 vehicles to the Houston area to make it possible for the nonprofits to offer the services needed.

How Will 38 Ford Vehicles be Used in Houston?

With a gathering of Ford employees and a partnership with the Houston Food Bank, a pop-up emergency food bank was created to offer help for designated clients during the Texas is Family event. Many Ford employees volunteered their time to work and facilitate the pantry to assist the clients identified. Some of the vehicles donated are being used to move the food that’s donated to the designated location to set up this food pantry and make it easier for the services to be taken advantage of during the event.

The Ford Models Go to the Right Places

Eight different organizations will receive the 38 Ford vehicles that are donated. These vehicles will be used to improve and enhance the recovery efforts and help with the delivery of food, mental health, and medical services, along with personal items that are needed such as diapers, personal hygiene kits, bug spray, cleaning supplies, and coolers. Some of these vehicles will be designated to be used as first responder rescue and evacuation vehicles when future emergencies arise to help the Houston area be better prepared for what could arise as an emergency that might need recovery or relief efforts in the future.

Check Out the Organizations

The different organizations that will receive vehicle donations from Ford include the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Team Rubicon, ToolBank, Catholic Charities, San Antonio Food Bank, and the North Texas Food Bank. These vehicles represent a commitment Ford has in the Houston area to aid this area to recover from Hurricane Harvey. The area dealers made a commitment to raise $3.5 million to support relief efforts in the area and these vehicles are a huge part of that. Ford continues to make sure the Houston area residents can have the services they need to get back on their feet and being to make a positive life once again.
