The 2025 Nissan Frontier receives some impressive upgrades only three years after the new generation began. These upgrades should make a huge difference.
The Frontier, Tacoma, and Ridgeline were the line midsize trucks for a few years before GM brought back the Canyon and Colorado models. Todays, midsize truck market is packed with impressive choices, and if Nissan wants the Frontier to remain competitive, they have to upgrade it more often than they did with the previous generation.

A new look at the front

What’s changed in the cabin area?
The Nissan Frontier features some upgrades in the cabin to give this midsize pickup a modern appearance. You’ll see a new telescoping steering wheel, dashboard trim, and a sliding rear window, all of which are now standard for the entire Frontier range of trucks. Another addition is a four-way power passenger seat, which is standard on most models, making it easier for your passengers to be comfortable during the drive.
Most versions of the new Frontier now come standard with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. This is a huge change from 2024, in which a 9.0-inch screen is the largest screen available. Another way Nissan brings this truck to the modern age, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The Frontier is ready for the trails
The PRO-4X is the Frontier that’s right for off-roaders looking for a great way to head out on the trails for some fun. This off-road pickup comes with part time 4WD but it also has an electronic locking differential, Bilstein, off-road suspension bits, and all-terrain tires as part of the standard packaging. The PRO-4X is upgraded for 2025 with an enhanced surround-view camera system with Off-Road Model that works at speeds of 12 mph and below to handle slow speed crawling and driving on trails.
A little more comfort at the top
The most luxurious version of the Nissan Frontier is the SL trim. This model comes with leather upholstery for the front and rear seats, a heated leather steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, and a Fender premium audio system with ten speakers. This trim also gives you an electronic driver-assist feature with a surround-view camera system and traffic sign recognition. This is the most feature-filled version of the Frontier, making it easy for you to get comfortable and drive this midsize pickup every day.
The powertrain remains the same
With so many changes to the Frontier, you might wonder if it’s a new generation for a truck that’s only three years old. The impressive Nissan 3.8-liter V6 engine is still part of the mix. This engine provides 310 horsepower and mates to a 9-speed automatic transmission to ensure smooth driving manners on and off the road. The max tow rating for the Frontier is increased by nearly 500 pounds, bringing it to 7,150 pounds for this impressive midsize pickup truck.
Will anything replace the Titan?
Is Nissan all in on the Frontier, or will they come back to the table with a new truck to replace the Titan? The Titan has been around for a long time, but it never quite got the market share that Nissan would like for its full-size pickup truck. Although Nissan tried a few different things to hit areas of the market that were missed by other trucks, the Titan had to go.
