Hyundai’s Santa Fe has been with us for over two decades, coming to life as a mid-size crossover SUV in the year 2000 that’s still going strong today.

Now entering its fifth generation, Hyundai has completely redesigned and reimagined the model and is sure to impress everyone on the showroom floor at every Hyundai dealership.

A Heroic New Look

The completely new design leaves nothing of the previous generation behind in terms of styling. The new rugged, yet luxurious presence also takes a bit of inspiration from Hyundai’s N Vision 74 concept car, giving us an exciting rectangular, retro-futuristic look. The 2024 Santa Fe takes advantage of the Korean automaker’s all-new H-Design logo, with H-inspired daytime running lights inserted into the headlight housings. Hyundai continues its boxy look down the sides of the Santa Fe, exemplified by trapezoidal wheel arches and large, square windows. The rear end also takes on a radical new appearance with a pair of rectangular, H-inspired LED tail lights sitting low down on either side of the flat rear hatch. A large Santa Fe badge is located centrally above the lights, and a high rear window with a roof spoiler overtop hides the rear wiper blade.

Elegant Interior

Inside, Hyundai has also used its new H-inspired design language when constructing the dash layout. A central insert, mirroring one of the thin, rectangular openings on the front fascia, houses the HVAC vents and start/stop button. Plenty of storage and charging ports are peppered throughout, along with a nifty optional compartment that can actually disinfect your smart devices using UV-C rays. The star of the show, however, is the new twin 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen housed within a single, curved pane of glass creating a driver-centric cabin. Drivers can take advantage of standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto using this system. The rear passengers are treated just as nicely, with B-pillar-mounted HVAC vents on either side and tons of kid-crucial storage room. As for cargo room, users can expect up to 75 cubic feet of storage space with the second and third rows folded flat.

Plenty of Power

Santa Fe will offer two powertrain options, the first being a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 offering 277 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also offered is a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 hybrid motor, capable of 232 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front or all-wheel drive is available. While there are no official EPA fuel mileage ratings yet, Hyundai expects the 2.5-liter to achieve a combined miles-per-gallon of 28 mpg, with the 1.6-liter hybrid anticipated to reach 34 mpg.

Hyundai has certainly taken a bold new direction with its 2024 Santa Fe and with all the buzz that the new SUV is generating, it’s shaping up to be a hit. What color do you want yours to be?
