The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT continues to set the standard for grand touring sports performance with two incredible coupes ready to hit the market in 2024.

High-end luxury and impressive driving prowess make enjoying the AMG GT an absolute must every time you step behind the wheel. This amazing Merc doesn’t come cheap, but it’s worth every penny you pay for the power, speed, and excellence found within this sports coupe. Although we don’t have pricing, we have some of the specs and expected details about this new model for 2024, which should be more than enough to whet your whistle.

2024 begins the second generation

The AMG GT isn’t a long-running sports coupe, and the 2024 model will only just begin the second generation for this amazing car. This flagship sports car brings two variants to the mix, giving potential owners a fantastic choice of models that could give them the desired drive on any road or track. The AMG GT 63 has 577 horsepower, while the AMG GT 55 includes a 469-horsepower engine. The GT 63 should reach a top speed of 196 mph and rocket to 60 mph in only 3.1 seconds. Those selecting the GT 55 will still enjoy excellent speed with a 3.8-second run to 60 mph and a 183 mph top speed.

Should we expect special variants?

Anytime an automaker starts a new generation of a high-end sports car, we expect to see specialized variants offered after the first year. This could be the case for this new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. The first generation brought us the AMG GT R, which was a much more hardcore version of the standard car. Although special variants haven’t been confirmed, the engine has been. This new GT uses a specially tuned version of the 4.0-liter V8 engine found in the previous models. This engine also powers the Mercedes-AMG SL, which was brought back to the mix only a year ago.

Its not a two-seater anymore

Typically, sports coupes either have a tiny rear seat or none at all. The previous generation of the AMG GT didn’t provide an option for a rear seat, which was probably the right choice. This new model includes the option for a 2+2 seating configuration, but there’s something wrong with this setup. The passengers fitting in the rear of this car will need to be less than five feet tall, which isn’t a normal expectation. Drivers selecting this configuration are more likely to search for an additional cargo area, which is what these seats can offer, rather than actual seating for normal-sized passengers.

The new cabin area is larger than before, with the engine pushed forward to even with the front axle instead of behind it. The optional panoramic glass roof adds to the openness and airy feeling of the cabin, which is filled with luxurious elements. The comfortable sport seats feature a standard massage function, but if more aggressive bolstering is necessary, it’s available for this impressive luxury coupe.

What features can we expect in this Merc?

The new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT sports coupe includes AMG-performance AWD and a retractable rear spoiler. This rear spoiler integrates into the trunk lid. This spoiler can automatically adjust to five different angles to improve handling and reduce drag at speeds over 50 mph. This car also features a new ride-control suspension with roll stabilization and rear-axle steering.

This car still looks like a million bucks

Mercedes-Benz didn’t miss a beat in designing a new AMG GT to give us the style and elegance expected of this flagship sports coupe. This new model brings sleek lines, long curves, bulging haunches, and a sculpted design that makes it the perfect car for the well-heeled driving enthusiast.

This new Merc utilizes an aluminum space frame built with steel, magnesium, and carbon-fiber materials woven into the build. Compared to the first generation model, this new AMG GT is 7.1 inches longer, 1.6 inches wider, and has a wheelbase that’s 2.8 inches wider than before. Active aerodynamics improve the overall performance, ensuring drivers can push this car to its limits without the worry of careening out of control.

How much should this new AMG GT weigh?

Some automakers target lightweight builds to fit the power of their sports cars, while others add more power to offset added weight. The new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT should weigh more than 3,600 pounds, which was the figure of the first-gen model. This new car is bigger and bolder, with additional seats, AWD, rear-wheel steering, and nine-speed automatic transmission, which all add more weight to this car.

We’re sure to get more details as the time for this car to hit the road approaches. Will you be one of the lucky few to get behind the wheel of the second-generation AMG GT?
