Automakers are leaning into the high-torque, sporty capability of electric and hybrid vehicles. Hyundai has entered the arena with its performance-based Tucson N Line, which is now available in a hybrid.

Hybrid Vehicles are More SportsFocused; the New Hyundai Tucson N Line is a Prime Example

Unlike EVs, hybrid vehicles are trying to blend in and work with regular gas cars. In fact, there are some models at Hyundai dealers that you wouldn’t know are hybrids from the first look. That includes the newest version of the Hyundai Tucson N Line, which just took a sportier turn by adding an electric motor.

But how can a hybrid be the sportier option when part of the appeal of a strong car is the roar of a gas engine? Let’s find out.

What is the N Line?

The N Line of vehicles are regular Hyundai vehicles that get tuned by the in-house performance shop to be quicker, more powerful, and sportier than their originals.

They’re made for weekend race types who want a bit more kick in the engine and a better suspension without sacrificing all the things that make Hyundai vehicles good daily drivers.

Back in 2022, the Tucson got the N Line treatment, and now the 2024 version is getting a hybrid model that manages to improve on the already-great performance of N Line vehicles.

What Changes About the Tucson N Line When it Becomes a Hybrid?

Let’s start with the obvious – adding an electric motor to the 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine gives the Tucson 226 horsepower and 37 miles per gallon when using the combined driving function.

That’s nearly 40 more horsepower and 10 more miles to the gallon than the standard version of the N Line model. It’s also getting standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and more standard safety technology like blind-spot collision avoidance and a lane-keeping system that vibrates the steering wheel to alert you when you drift.

With more power, better traveling distance, and new standard technology features, the Tucson N Line is going to be one of the best sporty models sold by Hyundai dealers.

Which begs the question: how can you get your own?

When to Get the New Hyundai Tucson N Line and the Future of Hyundai’s Electric Vehicles

If you just want a Hyundai Tucson, there’s no need to wait. There are only a few changes between the gas-powered 2023 and 2024 models, so you can find one at a Hyundai dealer now. But if you’ve got your eyes set on the sporty new hybrid model, you’ll have to wait until next year.

While pricing, engine information, and features have been released already, we don’t know when the 2024 Tucson N Line hybrid is set to officially drop on the market. Hopefully, there will be a chance to pre-order it at Hyundai dealer locations soon.

In the meantime, check out the hybrid and electric models that Hyundai already has and try to think of them as even more powerful, with even more sports-focused designs, in anticipation of the new electric vehicles the manufacturer will be releasing next year!
