In line with their announcement last year to invest as much as 7 billion dollars in American-made EVs by 2025, Hyundai Motor Group is making big plans to increase their electric Hyundai and Kia cars and SUVs lineup.

Here are their current and future plans for affordable electric vehicles.

Current Electric Vehicles from Hyundai and Kia

This year alone has seen some astounding electric vehicles from Kia and Hyundai – the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Hyundai Kona Electric, and the Kia EV6. Let’s break down what makes them great SUVs to begin Hyundai Motor Group’s transition plans to bring EVs to the masses.

The Ioniq 5 competes with and surpasses more prominent electric vehicle offerings like those from Ford and Volkswagen. It’s designed for luxury with a sleek exterior and roomy interior while still packing enough power to go 0-60 mph in about 7 seconds and have 300 miles of range.

Kia’s EV6 is currently considered by many to be the best electric SUV of 2022. It’s a sport-designed electric vehicle with a range of over 300 miles and over 2,000-pound towing capacity. The standard technology and safety features of the EV6 make it well-rounded as a top-performing vehicle.

Plans for the Future from Hyundai Motor Group

Hyundai Motor Group’s success with electric vehicles is partially due to the company’s extensive research and investment in batteries and charging for electric cars. By securing a quality supply of batteries, Hyundai Motor Group can focus more on manufacturing unique Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia cars and SUVs for their EV lineup.

Hyundai’s New Electric Vehicles

A grand total of 11 electric vehicles will be released under Hyundai – three sedans, six SUVs, one commercial vehicle, and an as-yet-unannounced model. One of the sedans is the Ioniq 6, which will be released later this year, while the Ioniq 7 SUV is set to come in 2024.

If any of them are like the Ioniq 5 that’s already out, Hyundai will dominate the electric vehicle market.

Kia’s New Electric Vehicles

Kia plans to have 11 electric vehicles on the market as soon as 2026. Seven of them will be made with the architecture of Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicle platform – the EV6 is one of them.

Two of the company’s planned electric vehicles will be pickup trucks, and a third is the EV9, which will be released in 2023 with an autonomous driving system.
