The simplicity of a large Jeep returns to the market to give us a new version of the Grand Wagoneer for the 2021 model year.

The concept version of this new model was on stage in Detroit next to the classic model that prowled the road with the woodgrain sides for nearly thirty years with very few changes to its cosmetics and engineering. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been a model of stories and those that still have them, are often admired.

Differences Show Up Immediately

An introduction to the 2021 Jeep Grand Wagoneer doesn’t bring us the same chrome bumpers and woodgrain sides that we saw in the previous model, but that makes perfect sense. This new version from Jeep looks the part of the tallest, largest, and most impressive Jeep SUV that we’ll have for the drive we want to experience.

Expected Construction of a Large Jeep

The new Grand Wagoneer sits on the same body-on-frame platform as the Ram 1500 to give us a large SUV with a truck-like feeling that can give us the size and power we want. This new SUV will easily rival the large models from GM and Ford while offering the Jeep signature off-road features that we want to enjoy on the trails. The new Grand Wagoneer is made to be tough and rugged.

The Grand Wagoneer Takes on All Competition

Not only will the Grand Wagoneer fight with the likes of Ford and GM for supremacy, but it will also take on the top models from Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, and Range Rover as well. That puts the Grand Wagoneer in a select company and in a position to always fight for its place in the market. Of course, the original fought this same battle, which gives FCA the confidence the new model will be able to handle the challenge.

The Power of this Jeep Remains a Mystery

All we know of what powers the Grand Wagoneer is that it is some form of a hybrid drivetrain. The production model could share a powertrain with the Ram 1500, giving it a 3.6-liter V6 that has the eTorque hybrid system, a 5.7-liter Hemi V8, and potentially a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. This could be the ideal lineup of powertrains for this impressive SUV.

Another form of this Jeep Arrives

You won’t only find the Grand Wagoneer in the 2021 lineup from Jeep. The smaller version, called the Wagoneer, will also be present. This addition allows the Jeep brand to have a similar lineup as what was offered many years ago when these two names were part of the mix. As the top two SUVs in the Jeep lineup, you can expect to see these models offered for families that need three rows of seats in their vehicle; something Jeep has been missing.

If you’ve missed the Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer name from Jeep for the past several years, they are returning for the 2021 model year to give you some additional options when you’re looking for the right full-size SUV to drive. Visit your local Jeep dealership to experience the grandeur of the new Wagoner firsthand.
