When you’re looking at the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass, you’ve got a tough choice in your hands as to which one to drive home and enjoy.

The Jeep brand is where you find some of the most incredible and capable SUVs on the market. If you need to get to a distant location that’s hard to get to, a Jeep model can be a perfect choice. These two models are similar and offer you some amazing features that can help you take what you need to where you need to go on a daily basis.

Let’s Figure Out the Right Jeep

There has to be a right Jeep for the job and if you want a compact model that has the ability to be competent on the road while also giving you the Jeep qualities you admire, the Compass and Cherokee are certainly going to come to mind. Let’s take a look at some ways you can differentiate these two vehicles.

Design

When it comes to the appearance of the Jeep Compass and Cherokee, the choice will certainly be yours to decide. The Compass is modern-looking and the Cherokee now has a bit of a youthful appearance that’s better than in the past. Both offers LED headlights and daytime running lights along with 19-inch wheels to make this a personal choice for you.

Space/Practicality

The passenger seating configurations of these two SUVs are extremely similar with the headroom, legroom, and shoulder room of both being nearly identical. The Compass offers you 27.2 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats up which expands to 59.8 cubic feet with them down. The Cherokee gives you 25.8 cubic feet of room with the rear seats up that come in a 54.7 cubic feet of room with the rear seats down.

Powertrains/Fuel Economy

The Jeep Compass is only offered with one engine which is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder model that makes 180 horsepower and 171 lb.-ft. of torque. This SUV comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission and FWD layout that offers you optional 4WD for the drive. The Cherokee gives you two additional engines with the 3.2-liter V6 at the top to give you 270 horsepower and 239 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive. The Compass tops out at 32 mpg on the highway and the Cherokee can make up to 31 mpg when you drive away from town.

Driving Dynamics

The benefit of both of these SUVs is the fact that they offer you the confidence you want when you head out on the roads for the drive you’re looking for. Both feel strong on the road and if you choose the AWD or 4WD options for either one, you’ll add the benefits of being able to enjoy the drive through foul weather when you take them for a ride. This is one area where neither of these two vehicles is going to separate itself for you.

Technology

The Jeep Compass offers you the Jeep Uconnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay on a seven-inch display screen. You’ll also have the benefits of active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and active braking. The Cherokee increases the offerings over the Compass with an 8.4-inch screen, full speed active braking, adaptive cruise controls, and a trailer sway control for when you tow a load. The Compass doesn’t offer the towing technology at all. If you’re looking for the most technology for your drive, the Cherokee is going to be the right choice for you on the road.

Which Jeep will You Drive?

If you’re interested in mature styling, good interior and cargo space, and more off-road capability, the Compass could be the right choice for you. The Cherokee is offered with more technology, more engines, more of what you need, and it does have the Trailhawk trim that you can use when you want to head out on the trails for some fun in the sun. The choice is yours when it comes to these two Jeep SUVs, and it’s a difficult one to make because both are extremely similar in what they can do and how they drive.
