Later this month we’re going to experience the Tokyo Motor Show and enjoy a wide variety of new models being offered that can be perfect for what you want to drive in the future. This is also where we expect to see a few new concepts and designs that can certainly capture your attention as the show provides us with a look and an idea of what many of the different automakers that will be present are working on. With that in mind, let’s talk about what we should expect from the different brands that will make their way to this show.
Honda –We recently saw the new fun and funky looking Urban EV that Honda took to Frankfurt but they will show us something else in Tokyo. This brand will bring the Sports EV Concept to this show and let us see their plan for what a sporty little coupe that’s powered by electricity. This new car should be a lot of fun to discuss once we see it at the show.
Lexus –The new LS flagship sedan will make its first appearance in Tokyo after it made its original debut in Frankfurt. This new look and new build gives us something great to see. We will also get to see the new seven-seat version of the RX crossover SUV that will allow us to consider this new model as the one we may want for our large families in the future.
Mitsubishi –Even though we might have thought Mitsubishi was laying low, this brand is expected to shake things up in a big way with their new e-Evolution Concept that will be offered at this show. The fact that the brand isonce again using the Evo name is exciting but some might feel that it shouldn’t be used on an EV, which will make for some interesting conversation.
Nissan –The expectation is that Nissan will show up with a large variety of models for us to take a look at including the new Leaf Nismo. There should also be a new concept model that could become the next generation of the 370Z sports car along with a few other concepts that will certainly capture our attention and have us thinking about the future.
Subaru –This brand has been somewhat mysterious about what it will show up with at the show, but one that’s expected is the new Viziv Performance Concept. We may also see more about the new design language with the next generation of the Impreza and WRX and what they might look like. We’ll also see two new STI versions of the BRZ but they are slated to only be sold in Japan.
Toyota–You can expect to see a lot from this brand at this show. First, we’ll see the GR HV Sports Concept which has already had an online debut. This car is a concept that’s a hybrid model based on the Toyota 86. We will also see the new TJ Cruiser minivan and a retro-styled Century Limo along with what should be the concept for the new Supra that’s been highly anticipated.
Mazda –We’ll see at least two new concepts from this brand at this show. One will be the new Mazda3 concept that could be equipped with the next engine technology from this brand. The second is the expected sports car concept with the rotary engine under the hood to give us a look at what might be the next RX model to make its way to our lineup.
Yamaha –While this brand is known for its motorcycles, the brand showed us a concept car at the last Tokyo Motor Show and the expectation is that we’ll see a follow up to this concept this year.
