There will be a brand new version of the Ford Escort built and offered in the global automotive market but it might not be in the US.
As the new Escort comes to the market and makes its way across the stage along with some other models at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, it might become clear to you that this car is one that isn’t going to make its way to the North American market anytime soon, but it’s still a significant change in the lineup.
The new Ford Escort model made its way to the stage during this show along with the Ford Focus which is also revamped to be all-new. The Escort is specifically built to cater to the customers in China that want great value, a sophisticated design, interior roominess, and superior safety in a midsize car. This doesn’t sound much like the compact Escort we saw and enjoyed when it was part of the market in North America, but when you bring back a nameplate, it can fit into nearly every place you want it to so that you can have the drive you need.
The Ford Escort has Been Sold Already
If the news of a renewed and reintroduced Ford Escort captures your attention, it probably didn’t grab too many people in China. This car has been on the market in China since December 2014 and has already been sold in over 800,000 models to be another one of the Ford models that have been successful overseas after being jilted by the North American market. This sounds a lot like what we’ve seen in the Ford Ranger, which will finally make its way back to the North American market to be part of the 2019 model year.
The options that customers have in China for the Escort are a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine or a 1.5-liter four-cylinder model for the power. This new version of the Escort is said to be lighter and stronger than the previous version to give customers a lot of what they want in the form of the efficiency needed. The transmissions offered are either a six-speed manual or automatic for the drive needed to give the performance on the road. This car can be had with power-folding mirrors, a power memory seat, a rearview camera, rain-sensing wipers, and push-button starting.
If we were to make a turn toward small cars once again, the Ford Escort could easily be a model that could be sent to us from China and renew the love and the fun we’ve had on the roads in this car in the past. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear we’re going to get the opportunity to have the Escort on the roads in the US anytime soon, but it’s nice to know that this car is living a good life in China and has become a successful seller for Ford in this area of the global market.
