As one of the most iconic brands on the market Porsche has been enormously successful over the past several decades because of the variety of sports cars they have offered us. The most iconic and successful models made by Porsche is the 911. This car is offered in more varieties than any other on the market and it appears the brand is ready to bring back a model that offers an aggressive and exceptional way to head out to the track and have an amazing way to enjoy the drive that we’ll admire.
Next month we should see this new Porsche cross the stage at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This new Porsche is the Speedster which will be a return of a model that we saw on the market in 2011. This car was limited to only 356 units during that year and only 100 were marked for the American market. What this car offered was a roofless two-seat setup with a wide stance that was borrowed from the 911 Turbo, a set of throwback style Fuchs wheels and a raked windshield which made it an amazingly unique model that fit in perfectly in the 911 special edition lineup.
This early model of the Speedster sold for a massive price tag of $204,000, with that in mind, the new model may be sold for a large price as well. This new Porsche 911 Speedster is expected to be based on the 881 generation and give us an excellent rear-engine setup. This car should offer a canvas emergency top, a raked windshield, a wider rear end and the highly recognizable humps that cover the rear tonneau of the 997 will make its way to this new Speedster model. This will easily be an exceptionally unique Porsche model to give us a fantastic car as part of the Porsche 911 lineup.
When it comes to the power you see from this new Porsche 911 Speedster there will be a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat six-cylinder engine that is expected to make around 493 horsepower. This is the same engine that’s found under the hood of the Carrera GTS, but this hasn’t been set in stone yet, which means we might see the 4.0-liter engine that comes out of the GT3. Regardless of the power, this new version of the Porsche 911 will be an amazing car and one that you want to pay attention to when it shows up in Frankfurt.
We aren’t sure the numbers that Porsche will offer when it comes to how many of the new Porsche 911 Speedster models they will make, but the fact is this is a car that should be expensive and rare. Knowing this car is on its way is exciting and makes use ready to see what this new Porsche can offer us when it joins the lineup of specialized 911 models that are currently offered on the market.
