As one of the most highly regarded names in the industry, Cadillac has been a brand we love and admire with dynamic luxury models–such as the Cadillac XT5 and the CT6–that are perfect for what we want for the drive. We’ve anticipated the next crossover SUV to be offered from this brand for a little while and recently a new testing mule has been seen on the test tracks alongside a pair of other luxury models that will be part of the competition for this particular SUV when it does make its way across the stage and to the market for us to drive.
The next Cadillac SUV we expect to see is the XT4. This new crossover is planned to be part of the 2019 model year and it was seen on the test track decked out in camouflage alongside the new BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC models that were also shown in similar garb. Testing next to these two models makes it easy to imagine the XT4 will be an SUV that can offer you more of what you’re looking for when it’s time to get out on the road and have an excellent drive in your area.

Some of the Details

While we know this SUV won’t make its way to the market for a little over a turn of the calendar, we do know some of the qualities expected and what it should bring. The new XT4 is going to have some of the styling cues from the current XT5 to appear to be a bit of a smaller model of the same look and build. The platform used will be the C1XX and the differences between this model and the XT5 aren’t evident when you see the model on the track with the camouflage being worn.

This new SUV is expected to arrive at an affordable price to make it the crossover luxury SUV you’re going to want to experience when you get out on the road for a drive. The starting price is planned to be around $32,000 and it will arrive with the expected luxury items. These will include things you want such as ambient lighting, climate controls, a heated steering wheel, heated seats, stability control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and the CUE infotainment system to allow you the benefit of quick connectivity and responsiveness that makes this a luxury model that’s perfect for you to drive.

Under the hood of this new model, you’ll see a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that should make nearly 272 horsepower while making use of an eight-speed automatic transmission. Even though the powertrain and features are currently rumors, these are the items we expect will be used. We won’t know for sure until next year when the Cadillac brand shows us the XT4 without the camouflage offered to disguise what this new SUV should be and what it looks like. Until then, we can certainly admire the fact this SUV is being tested with the X3 and the GLC to give it the luxury tweaks we want for the drive.
