Luckily, Chrysler’s parent company Stellantis recently made some announcements that are sure to get Chrysler fans sitting on the edge of their seats in anticipation.

Stallantis announced that Chrysler will launch its very first electric vehicle by 2025. Your local Chrysler dealership will have a full portfolio of battery-powered options by 2028.

Why Electric Cars?

With gas-powered vehicles having such a rich history, it’s easy to wonder why electric vehicles are getting so much press. There are plenty of benefits to going with an eco-friendly electric ride:

Energy Efficient

Electric cars are much better at converting electric power into horsepower than gasoline engines. An electric motor typically converts up to 62% of energy into power, while gas options only covert up to 21%.

Less Maintenance

Since electric vehicles have fewer moving parts than conventional automobiles, they don’t require as much maintenance. You don’t require oil changes, fuel filters, timing belts, or mufflers. Avoiding these kinds of routine repairs will save drivers tons of money over the life of their cars.

Greater Convenience

While all cars need time to refuel, it’s much more convenient to simply plug in your car while you’re at home than it is to stop by a gas station while you’re en route. You can also charge your car while at work, at the store, or at an increasing number of charging stations.

Reduced Environmental Impact

Since electric vehicles do not produce exhaust and don’t depend on fossil fuels, their impact on the environment is greatly reduced.

It’s The Way The Market Is Going

Even if a company didn’t see the value in developing new electric technologies, the wave of manufacturers going in this direction makes it tough to stay out of the game. Many countries are putting laws and policies in place that encourage electric car development. Avoiding this segment of the market means losing serious opportunities for growth.

Chrysler’s Plan To Catch Up

It may seem like Chrysler has a lot of ground to make up in the electric game. Right now, the only electric vehicle available at your local Chrysler dealership is the plug-in hybrid Pacifica hybrid.

It’s unclear which Chrysler model will be the first to get an electric variant or if Chrysler will launch a brand-new car for the occasion. Luckily, Chrysler isn’t starting from scratch. Stellaris is already producing an electric Jeep Wrangler (4xe) and a plug-in hybrid Jeep Grand Cherokee for 2022.

The new Airflow Concept

At the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Chrysler debuted its innovative electric Airflow Concept, which is most likely a hint at what’s to come. This concept vehicle is a four-door car loaded with some serious autonomous driving capabilities. Rumors are that this concept could deliver between 350-400 miles of driving range.

Until more details get released, we’re all just left dreaming of the future. It will be here and at your local Chrysler dealership sooner than we think.

With practically every auto manufacturer jumping into the electric vehicle game, many shoppers are wondering when they’ll see electric options at their local Chrysler dealership locations.
