Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle: Minivan Luxury with Room for All

The Chrysler Pacifica has to be one of the most impressive minivans in the class. In fact, the Pinnacle trim reaches up into luxury levels of driving.

More than forty years ago, Chrysler created a new vehicle class. This new class is called the minivan, and it became a huge hit as a family-sized alternative to sedans. Eventually, SUVs replaced most sedans and all but a few minivans, but there are still some models that give families the comfort and quality driving desired. The Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle is an excellent minivan with upscale features that come close to making it a luxury vehicle.

The powertrain is questionably unique

If you choose the hybrid version of this minivan, you’ll have some things to think about and consider. Unlike most hybrids, which gain power compared to their gas-only counterparts, the PHEV version of the Pacifica loses some power. This powertrain only makes 260 horsepower, compared to 265 ponies for the base powertrain.

Additionally, Chrysler doesn’t offer AWD with a hybrid powertrain. This is also a bit odd, considering it’s a hybrid. If you want a hybrid minivan, there are some available to you, but if you stick with the Pacifica, all power goes to the front wheels and only the front wheels.

There is something positive about the Pacifica’s powertrain; it makes 30 mpg combined and can drive for 30 miles using only electricity from the battery pack. This means you can complete most of your errands without using the gasoline in the tank. Additionally, the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV is eligible for the $7,500 tax rebate, which can be applied at the dealership.

A gorgeous cabin

When you choose the Pinnacle trim, you’ll have a minivan that comes remarkably close to being a luxury vehicle. The cabin area could be the biggest selling point for this impressive minivan. It’s filled with attractive leather upholstery with diamond-patterned stitching on the seats. This soft leather appears on the doors as well, completing the ensemble as a more luxurious minivan.

If you’re looking for impressive tech in your vehicle, you’ll find what you want in the Pacifica. This minivan utilizes the latest Uconnect infotainment technology, giving you the connectivity features and an impressive touchscreen for your use. You’ll see climate control and comfort buttons below the screen at the top of the center stack to control things you need.

More tech for your driving pleasure

Behind the steering wheel, the Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle features a digital gauge cluster that provides clear readings of everything you need. You’ll also enjoy the rotary dial gear selector, but it might take some getting used to in this minivan.

While driving, the beautiful sounds of the music you want to enjoy comes out of the impressive Harman Kardon sound system. This system has 19 speakers and a 10-inch subwoofer to provide perfect sounds wherever you go.

How are the passenger accommodations?

The second-row seats in the Pinnacle trim are removable captain’s chairs that can leave more room for cargo. The PHEV Pacifica models have the battery pack in the floor area, where the Stow ‘n Go seats fold in the non-hybrid models. The captain’s chairs are covered in the same soft and supple materials as the front seats, giving your passengers the comfort they desire. You’ll even find some Chrysler throw pillows in the second row to add a little more comfort during your time on the road.

Excellent rear entertainment

The Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle features an excellent rear-seat entertainment system with bright screens that can be seen in any light. The menu systems are quick and make it easy to find the apps you need. The system comes with some of the most common apps, which can be controlled by the driver and front passenger for younger passengers. These screens also flip up when in use and down when they aren’t being used.

Is the third row any good?

The third row has the same impressive leather upholstery as the rest of the vehicle. The left seat has one cupholder and the right seat has two. You’ll also have two charging ports and a storage tray in this rearmost row. All Pacifica headrests are adjustable and the front ones tilt to fit some passengers better.

Behind the third row of seats there’s 32 cubic feet of storage space, which is seven more than what you get in the standard Escalade. Chrysler has things stored in the back, including the charging cable, battery, and tire inflation kit to make the cargo area more useful.
