Tesla Proves To Be a Leader in Customer Loyalty According to New Report
Tesla has been able to retain its cult-like following and the numbers show this. According to recent data, more drivers are sticking to their Tesla purchases and staying away from comparable rivals.
According to a Brand Loyalty report put together by S&P Global Mobility, eight popular automotive brands have shown that they’ve struggled with retaining customers over the past couple of years. While drivers are more likely to bounce between brands, mainly when shopping for pre-owned cars, many of these “driver nomads” (as they’ve grown to be known) have turned to other brands including Tesla, and are more likely to stay with the electric automaker for much longer. According to the data, an impressive 83% of Tesla first-time owners stay with the company and have some of the lowest numbers when it comes to customers who purchase once and then swap out their Teslas for another rival.
Erin Gomez, the associate director of consulting for S&P Global shares that “Brands that fail to transform nomads into loyalists not only lose out on the immediate sale to the nomad but also the future loyalty benefit they could have provided as loyalists.”
The study is largely fueled by S&P Global Mobility’s aim to understand why drivers value one automaker over another and what automakers can do to retain their customers.
Auto Brands are Holding on to Their Loyal Base
With Tesla leading the charge, other brands including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and Toyota are able to hold on to their loyal base as well with the lowest number of customers jumping to other brands following Tesla.
Unsurprisingly, luxury automakers including Mercedes Benz and BMW have a reputation for superb vehicles backed by equally responsive customer service. Toyota’s unwavering commitment to performance, practicality, and affordability has also helped them become an auto brand drivers see worth sticking with. With these top automakers, drivers can count on getting a great vehicle, even if they are shopping for pre-owned cars.
Auto Brands Struggling with Customer Loyalty
At the bottom of the list are automakers that have struggled to hang on to their first-time buyers. Buick comes in at number 25 with GMC, Cadillac, Lincoln, and Dodge following closely behind. Less customer loyalty to these brands can be attributed to a variety of things. However, maintenance issues, affordability, and practicality can often be indicators that buyers just aren’t seeing it as worth their while to stay with these automakers.
What’s Leading Tesla’s Charge
Considering Tesla is still a novel player in the auto market, it remains to be seen whether it can hold its loyal fan base over the next decade and beyond. What is certain however is that Tesla has broken the mold when it comes to innovation and it’s catching the attention of drivers across the nation.
With continued customer satisfaction, the practicality of their vehicles, and of course their dependability, there’s no reason why Tesla can’t maintain its hold as the leader in automotive loyalty.
