The Ford Escape was all-new for the 2020 model year, and then for the 2021 model year, the Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid was introduced. As the Escape has recently received two significant upgrades, there aren’t any plans to make major changes for 2022. However, there will be some slight changes in both price and feature availability.

Price and Feature Changes

For the 2022 model year, the Escape SEL will no longer include standard roof rails. If you want roof rails on this trim, you’ll have to purchase the available option. Similarly, the Escape Titanium’s Bang & Olufsen audio system will no longer be standard, but it will be available for an extra cost. Prices are also expected to change across the entire Escape model lineup.

The S and SEL trims will increase in price by either $455 at the lowest or $465 at the highest. The base S trim with FWD will cost $27,255, including the destination charge. The AWD version will cost $28,755, including the destination charge.

The only exception to the price increases is the base Titanium AWD model. That one should cost $37,300, which is $400 less than before.

2023 Models

Unlike 2022, the 2023 Ford Escape models are expected to receive some kind of light refresh. Spy shots have revealed an overhauled front fascia with thinner headlights. The front edge of the hood has also been moved forward to overhang the thinner headlights. The grille will have a slightly higher position to meet the front edge of the hood. The grille now has a slightly meaner look versus the outgoing grille. All these design tweaks make the Escape look a bit taller and more aggressive. The market for crossovers and SUVs has been trending towards more rugged models, and these design tweaks will help the Escape fit in.

Major feature changes are unlikely for 2023. The powertrain lineup should also stay the same with the turbo three-cylinder engine, the turbo four-cylinder engine, and the hybrid versions. The 2023 changes will be considered a mid-cycle refresh. A full redesign is expected by 2025.

Ford Escape Popularity

The Ford Escape continues to be one of Ford’s most popular vehicles. It was also the eighth most popular used vehicle in 2021. Compact SUVs are extremely popular on the used market thanks to well-stocked inventories in the new market. The Ford Escape garnered 1.7 percent of the total 2021 car sales, which ties it with the Toyota RAV4.

There’s little doubt that Ford will continue to keep up with the Escape to satisfy crossover-loving consumers. Even with price and feature changes, the Escape is likely to have another good year in sales.
