2021 Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport: Which Bronco is Best for Your Needs?

Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport

It’s been a few years since Ford released word that they were bringing back a true classic, plus adding a new version – the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport. Websites featured mockups of the design long before production started in earnest.

I was super excited about the re-release, and I know I wasn’t the only one. For me the Ford Bronco opens the flood gates of childhood memories.

I have some fond memories of my friend’s dad waxing his early-80s Ford Bronco every weekend. I also am reminded of the iconic white Ford Bronco that A.C. Cowlins used to steer O.J. Simpson clear of the media. The look and feel of those older Broncos are alive and well within the new renditions.

Here’s a quick look at two of the latest versions: the new Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport.

2021 Ford Bronco

Available in two-door or four-door, the Ford Bronco comes with 4X4 included standard. The four-door model is the first one that caught my eye, as it features a folding soft top already included. Ford fans that prefer a hard top have that option to choose from as well.

An 8-inch Color LCD Instrument Panel is plenty large enough to be able see with a casual glance. The Ford Bronco also boasts Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. The Ford Bronco comes with Advanced 4X4 with Automatic On-Demand Engagement. Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist are all options tailor-made for the off-road enthusiast.

2021 Ford Bronco Sport

Known as the “Baby Bronco,” the first thing I noticed about it was its diminutive size. That first close look was when the comparisons to the Jeep Wrangler finally seemed to make sense.

If a subcompact SUV isn’t your thing, you should holdout for the regular Ford Bronco. But, if you like a slimmed-down SUV that will fit inside your garage, then the Bronco Sport is calling your name.

Don’t let its small stature fool you, the Bronco Sport can still please off-road enthusiasts. It come with 4X4 standard, with four-wheel disc brakes. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with electronic traction control is a nice perk too.

Which one is right for you?

Ford SUV type Price HP Engine/Drivetrain Wheelbase
Ford Bronco Sport $27,215 181-245 1.5L 3-Cyl. EcoBoost, 2.0L 4-Cyl.; FWD 105.1”
Ford Bronco $28,500 270-310 V-6; 4X4; 10-speed auto, 7-speed manual 100.4”-116.1”

For Ford fans that prefer a smaller offering will love the Bronco Sport. If you prefer a bit more room for cargo or another passenger, then the Ford Bronco is the way to go.

Either way there’s more than enough nostalgia supplied within the contours.

And while traveling down memory lane in style, you can also bask in the glory of some nice new amenities.
