The Cadillac team brought the new CT5 sedan to the show to give us a look at the model that will replace the CTS in the lineup.
The New York Auto Show opened up and Cadillac had something special and a bit surprising to show off. This new svelte and sleek sedan is one that takes the angular Cadillac style and adds some softer curves and lines to the mix to make sure we can see a car that will be right for us to have a great luxury car for the ride.
A Pair of Engines to Get the Job Done
You can expect to see a pair of engines offered when the new Cadillac CT5 arrives for the 2020 model year. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder model and the upgraded engine will be a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. The base engine is capable of offering you 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque while the larger power plant can give you 335 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive. Both of these engines are mated to the ten-speed automatic transmission that we see being used more often today.
The Naming Designation that Needs an Explanation
Both versions of the CT5 will wear names on the back that show off a measure that we don’t often think about. The numbers offered will be in Newton-meters which gives you either a 550T or a 350T when you consider the right versions of this car to have the drive you want and the ride quality you’ve been looking for. These names make each of the modes seem more powerful than they are, but the numbers on the back simply relate to a different measure of the same power.
The Control Elements You Desire
We could talk about the interior qualities, but we don’t need to because everything you expect and desire in this sedan is present. What we do need to discuss is the cornering ability of this incredible new Cadillac. The CT5 has MacPherson struts with dual lower ball joints in the front and a five-link independent suspension in the back. This means you’ll have a smooth drive that can handle the corners perfectly for you. The dampers that are included are passive which means you can drive around the corners you find with the confidence that you’ll be able to remain under control.
The Waiting Game for this Cadillac Begins
