While fewer sedans are being sold nowadays, Nissan sedans have carved out a bit of a niche when compared to other sedan makers.
If you’ve listened to some of the rumors and heard announcements from the domestic automakers, you might think the sedan market is dead. With the likes of GM and Ford turning their backs on the sedan and FCA reducing their lineup over the past few years, you might even think that you should find the last few sedans on the lots of these companies at a huge discount, but that’s not the whole story. In fact, the sedan market in America is a strong one that still numbers nearly five million models sold every year.

While the domestic automakers may be leaving the sedan market, for now, the Nissan team sees the attraction of this type of vehicle. In America, the numbers support either argument for or against sedans. Right now the mix is seventy percent trucks and SUVs with sedans taking up thirty percent of the market. Nissan is sold in nearly every market in the world and is one of the top brands around the world with nearly twenty percent of the market share. So the question is, do you turn your back on thirty percent of the US market or continue to profit from it?

Attracting the Younger Buyers to Nissan Sedans

Because SUVs have been taking over the minivan world for the past several years, many of the younger buyers view the SUV as the family vehicle, and not the one for a young, hip, and active single adult. This is where the sedan can roam and attract a crowd ready to have a car instead of an SUV. In addition to being the right size and shape to attract a younger crowd, the Nissan sedans are outfitted with the technology this new generation desires.

The Right Technology for You

Right now, more than thirty percent of the Nissan Altima models purchased have ProPilot Assist installed. This is the package of advanced safety systems that can make it easier for you to drive and it includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, along with several other items. Nissan Leaf models have this system installed in 57 percent of the models sold while the Rogue includes this system 41 percent of the time. This technology is growing and a big part of what makes the Nissan brand an attractive one for younger buyers to turn to for their drive.

Growing the Sedan Market in the US

Nissan is also trying to grow the following and use of the Nissan Safety Shield 360 system that brings in automatic high beams, rear cross traffic alerts, and reverse emergency braking. The goal is to have more than eighty percent of the vehicles sold by 2021 built with the advanced technology of this package and the ProPilot Assist. Technology aside, the Nissan team has worked to make their sedans more attractive and sporty to make sure you can look to them for the drive you that you’re looking for on the road.
