One of the biggest complaints that driving purists have had over the past few years is the fact there are fewer cars offered with a manual transmission than in the past. These numbers have become so depleted that the true manual transmission with three pedals on the floor and a stick shifter has become nearly obsolete. Thankfully, the new Toyota Supra that will be offered may have a manual transmission offered to make these purists happier and give them a reason to admire this impressive new Toyota sportscar.
Made for Limited Markets
The new Toyota Supra is going to be a sports car that will carry the name we’ve admired for many years and bring in the qualities that we want when it’s time to head out to the track. With the knowledge that we’re going to see a manual transmission many people can rejoice, but right now, this version of the Supra will be offered in markets where a right-hand drive is required. That means we won’t see this version in North America, but it will be offered in other areas of the world, which means we might see it eventually.
What will the US-spec Supra Offer?
The A90 Supra, as it’s called, will be offered with an excellent turbocharged six-cylinder engine that makes between 300 and 400 horsepower for the drive. This engine has been sourced from BMW and will be attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission while being set up in RWD. This car will be extremely light to make the most of this power. The goal is to keep the Supra at less than 3,000 pounds when it finally arrived on the market to be the one we can enjoy driving when it’s time for some serious fun behind the wheel.
Pre-Production Testing in Spain
The new Supra was recently tested by several automotive journalists at the Jarama Circuit in Spain. This car made these writers buzz with excitement at the fun, flickable handling and smooth engine that makes this lightweight model be one that can offer an excellent drive and the fun you want. This pre-production model received positive accolades and brought about a feeling of fun and active driving that can become the right vehicle for you to have the experience you’ve wanted for many years in the sports car you’ve been after.
The Good and the Bad of the Supra
While we may have to wait to have the three-pedal manual transmission model of the Supra in the US for a much later time, this car is nearly ready to enter the market and be a car you can enjoy driving. This powerful car that brings about the perfect blend of features and qualities from the partnership with BMW will be one that can easily offer us the name and the drive we’ve been waiting for. Toyota is ready to compete for a top spot when it comes to performance driving and the Supra is the right car for the job.
