Europe Already Sees the Upgraded Jeep Renegade

While the Jeep brand is certainly a domestic one for North America, many of the Jeep models have become popular around the world including the small and mighty Jeep Renegade. This tiny Jeep is one that does offer the benefits of an excellent set of features and the ability to be ready to head out on the trails when properly equipped. The European-spec version of the Renegade has already been shown and has a range of upgrades that we certainly expect to see offered when the new model arrives for the US market in the near future.

What Changes Have Been Made to the Jeep Renegade

It’s time for an upgrade to the bulbous shape and look of the Jeep Renegade. With that in mind, what we see in the new European version of the SUV gives the vehicle a look that’s more mature and ready to be the one that can be even more fun to drive. These changes include a new front fascia, standard LED daytime running lights, available LED daytime taillights, and new wheel options that include a new 19-inch set of wheels for the Limited models. The goal with these updates was to make the Renegade look more like a smaller version of the Wrangler.

On the inside, the Renegade has been redesigned to make it even more livable than in the past. The center console receives a built-in smartphone holder, new cupholders, additional storage compartments, an additional USB port, and new colors for the interior. The upholstery colors that you can now enjoy in the Renegade for 2019 include Trespass Black, Polar Plunge, Ski Grey, and Black Leather. With the amazing changes to this SUV inside and out, you’re going to be able to have a fantastic look in this small and active SUV.

Getting Under the Hood in Europe

While most of the upgrades to the powertrain are only for the European models, they do give us a hint at what we might see for the drive in the US. This crossover receives a new set of engines for the drive. The engine lineup includes a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that makes 120 horsepower, a 150 horsepower 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, and a 180 horsepower 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine. The smallest of the three is offered with a six-speed manual transmission in FWD only, the others will give shoppers the choice of a dual-clutch automatic transmission and either FWD or 4WD.

We don’t expect the engines that are offered under the hood of the North American version of the Renegade to be as small as the European models. This new SUV is expected to go on sale in September in Europe with the North American version to follow. Once we see more of the features and items that will be part of what we enjoy in the Renegade that’s offered in the US, we’ll be ready to share the details. Until then, keep in mind this SUV will be upgraded inside and out to give you a more mature and impressive drive.
