The Ford Ranger Raptor Might Take Over the Show

The Ford Ranger Raptor Might Take Over the Show

In Europe, a new Ford Ranger Raptor is scheduled to make its debut later this month which leaves us with a lot of questions.

This impressive new version of the midsize pickup truck that we want to enjoy driving on the roads and out on the trails will be presented during Europe’s largest gaming event, Gamescom. Even though this is an event that’s expected to put a focus on gaming, there’s a good chance the new Ranger Raptor will take over and garner more attention than anything else at the event, but that’s just fine for those of us who love what this truck should offer.

This European Debut Makes Us Think

In a recent press release, Ford promised to bring a new performance vehicle to the event and that vehicle is meant to offer us the fun we want when heading out on the trails. The release was accompanied by a photo of the Ranger Raptor making a jump over some hay bales at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which makes it easy to put together the puzzle of which performance vehicle we’ll see. The new European-spec Ranger Raptor will be the one to take the event by storm later this month.

Centrally Located Build of the Ford Ranger Raptor

This event in Europe is centrally located to the continent in Cologne, Germany and it will begin on August 21. Cologne is the site of the Ford Germany headquarters, and it has been since 1930. This has also been the home of Ford Europe since 1998 and since Gamescom is being held in this city, it becomes the perfect place for the brand to show us the new Ranger Raptor that we’ll want to enjoy driving. With nearly 18,000 Ford employees in the Cologne area, the brand will certainly have a hometown advantage during the event.

Other Ford Ranger Raptors on the Global Market

Earlier this year, the Ranger Raptor for Thailand and the Australian area markets were released. This truck featured a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine that was capable of 210 horsepower and 368 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine was mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission for the drive. With the way diesel has been mired in North America and Europe, it’s more likely the new Ranger Raptor offered at Gamescom will be powered by the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that makes 310 horsepower, but we won’t know for sure until the beginning of the event.

Why do We Care in North America?

Just because the Ranger Raptor is being offered in Europe and around the world doesn’t mean it’s going to be offered in North America. Even so, the fact that it’s growing around the world does allow us to know it will be a model that’s offered for the future and could be brought to North America very soon. With the new 2019 Ford Ranger just around the corner, we could see the Ranger Raptor in only a couple of years and it might be the same one that’s offered in Europe. This could be the right performance model that we want to enjoy driving on a daily basis when it’s time to head out on the trails for some fun.
