As you take a look at the lineup from BMW and see the SUV models that are part of what you can find, the X6 M is something that will capture your attention and interest you. If you’re expecting to see more utility in this vehicle, you’ll quickly be disappointed, but if you expect to see a model that has the sport to handle a track while sitting on a higher and wider track than many of the other models on the market. As an SUV that’s capable on the track, one company has decided to increase its use for some other racing.

Some experts feel the X6 M is a model that can be too much of something and being too much of a sport model is certainly one of those things. The team at Manhart have figured out how to make this SUV ready for some desert racing to make it model that can be perfect for the ride in some of the most legendary races in the world that don’t take place on a paved track. With this in mind, let’s take a look at what they’ve done to the X6M.

The Upgrades

The new model offered by Manhart is called the MHX6 Dirt2 which is built to have the ride that will be amazing at the legendary Dakar Rally. Not to be confused with the BMW X5, this SUV has been improved with a partial exoskeleton upgrade, a pair of snorkels for the engine, a full-size spare tire, new steel front bumpers with a winch, underbody protection, and a great set of LED lights. These upgrades are just the start of what will make the new version of the X6 M is able to get out in the desert and make this a vehicle that can have a lot of fun on the desert sands.

The power that is sent to the massive BF Goodrich tires comes from a strong twin-turbocharged V8 engine which has been tuned up by Manhart to offer 900 horsepower and 885 lb.-ft. of torque. This improved power is the result of new pistons, connecting rods, upgraded turbos, a new carbon air intake, improved cooling, and a new exhaust system. There is also a new transmission and a stronger rear axle that are part of the package to help make it easier to have all the extra power under control while a KW suspension lifts the body for this ride.

Right now, the new X6 SUV from Manhart is a concept model, but the company does plan to build a few of them to be sold to teams that will want to race them in the deserts of South America and around the world. The price for one of these models is expected to be close to $436,000 and this tuner will only build five of them, but those five will certainly be something to be reckoned with out on the trails and desert areas of the world where rally style racing takes place.
