More for Your Camaro

More for Your Camaro

Do you love what the Chevrolet Camaro offers for the driving experience you have on the road and on the track? Has this car been one of the models that you look at for the drive that can be exciting, fun, and active where you want to go? If so, you’re going to love the fact that the Camaro will receive some of what we’ve seen in the Corvette in the upcoming years. This incredible pony car that’s affordable and active for your drive will gain upgraded shifting technology with another shared item that makes a huge difference in performance.
For the past few years, the engines we see in some of the Cadillac performance models have come from the Chevrolet team. This certainly allows us to think the two teams have worked well together, but the Camaro and Corvette teams, while being part of the lineup that wears the same bowtie badging has been kept separate for some items, and only shared a few things together. This isn’t out of spite but more about the fact that these are two extremely different performance cars, but there are some items that can certainly be shared and one more has been found.

Discovering the Upgrade

The discovering of a CARB document that’s been filed show that the Camaro and the Corvette will both make use of the 6.2-liter small block V8 engine with this being the top engine for the Camaro and the standard offering in the Corvette. The Camaro is expected to make use of this engine in the ZL1 model which pumps out a strong 650 horsepower for the ride around the track that has already put fear into automakers in Europe when this car was able to rip off the fast laps at the Nurburgring.

The new item we’ll see in the Camaro with this engine is the seven-speed manual transmission, which will be an additional option for the car. The six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions will still be offered as well, giving you the chance to have this car set up the way you want. While we don’t know what the performance numbers will be for the Camaro with this transmission, it’s certainly an exciting and alluring upgrade from what we’ve had in the past and another excellent way for the Corvette and the Camaro teams to share their technology for the drive.

Looking at the Corvette, the engine offered is expected to still be in the base Stingray model and the new LT5 ZR1 which we’ve been looking forward to for the 2019 model year. It looks like Chevrolet is ready to continue to keep the attention on its pair of impressive sports cars to ensure we want to have these models for the drive and experience at the track. Get ready, these two are coming to the market to be the muscle and sports cars we’re sure to love to drive when it’s time to get out on the track and show off with speed, power, and performance.
