As the latest automotive show in the world winds down in Frankfurt, Germany, we want to know more about the model that stole the attention of everyone in attendance. The new Mercedes-AMG Project One is the most significant debut at this show and it’s the car that will take on other hypercar models that have been found at the height of the market. With that in mind, we want to know more about the Project One, even if most of us won’t ever be able to get inside and take a drive.
Hybrid Powertrain – The use of hybrid technology for the power of more hypercars on the market we see this technology being the right way to add more power. This impressive car uses a small turbocharged engine and four electric motors to have the electric power needed at each wheel for the drive. This car will be able to drive for 15.5 miles on EV power only, but that’s not what makes this the most interesting debut we saw in Frankfurt.
Massive Power – This is a two-seat AWD hypercar that provides you with the qualities you want from the Formula One cars we’ve admired for years. This car uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine that can rev up to 11,000 rpm and give you as much as 1,000 horsepower. This horsepower is able to help this car reach 217 mph as the top speed while reaching 124 mph in less than six seconds. That’s a lot of speed and a ton of power out of a car that only has six cylinders for the engine.
Aided by Lewis Hamilton – As one of the most famous race car drivers in the world, Lewis Hamilton had a hand in developing the hybrid powertrain that is meant to resemble a Formula One model. He was present in Frankfurt for the reveal at the show and showed his own genuine excitement regarding this impressive car and what it may bring to the road and the track. This is a car that has what you want and can be a true race car.
Muted Styling – Looking at the Project One, many in attendance in Frankfurt shared their disappointment at how this car wasn’t styled the way many expected. This car shows off smooth curves and lines that are part of what we’ve come to know from Mercedes-Benz. The idea was to focus on the powertrain to make it the feature of the car and the toned down design actually fits in well with what you should expect from this brand.
Expensive and Limited – This shouldn’t come as any surprise and once it goes on sale you can be certain every single one of the 275 models that are being built will be on reserve in just a few hours. The expected price of this vehicle is going to be over $2.7 million for this car that will likely be found in the collection of some who are extremely rich. Hopefully, we’ll see a few owners take this car out for a drive because that’s what it’s been built for.
